The Appeal
Ford saved the best until last and the best was reserved exclusively for UK customers. We couldn’t get enough of the tail-sliding, cardboard box-bashing Cappa and Old Henry rewarded us with exclusive models like the Injection Special.
Equipped with an LSD, 5spd gearbox, RS alloys, figure-hugging Recaros and, of course, that grunty Cologne mill, the Special was the rear-drive, coupe-riposte to all those buzzy hot hatches. This 1987 Special is one of the very last built, leaving the line in November 1986, one month before production ended.
Finished in the popular shade of Mercury Grey metallic, it is a really well presented and maintained car. The vendor acquired it in 2015 and has taken what he describes as a ‘no expense spared’ approach. Looking at the raft of invoices since 2022, totalling over £9,000 investment, it’s hard to disagree. That work has included welding, body repairs, refurbished alloys and a coolant system overhaul.
We are told that the car retains its original panels and is unmodified. Inside there is a well kept set of Recaro seats and tidy trim and fittings. Even the vulnerable parcel shelf is in good condition.
With low mileage for the year, extensive history - including a photo album - and MOT valid to July 2026 with no advisories, this is the sort of Capri collectors surely hope to find.
The vendor says:
“The car is in A condition and has been a joy to own. The history really backs up the cars credentials and is open for a detailed look into.”
