………..…….. SORRY, RESERVED FOR RUSSELL…………
Not one of my usual BMW Airhead offerings, but a really honest Triumph from a good customer of mine.
This one is a 1969 Triumph T100R Daytona, that he’d owned for around 5 years. Not a Stafford “trailer queen”, but a good, honest, regularly used Triumph, that runs, goes, handles and stops like a good Daytona should.
I asked Phil to document some of the improvements he’d made during his ownership, and this is the interesting list:
“ Triumph T100R Daytona MCY81G
I purchased this bike from a deceased estate in 2020,
Still in pretty much in the condition it is now, as it has been in continuous use
work done during ownership:
Oil tank flushed and cleaned
Crankcase breather replaced
Oil changed every 1000 miles
New Avon road rider tyres
New chain
New battery
New silencers
Fitted with Indicators, switchgear, flasher unit and separate sub harness ( easily removed) Amal concentrics rebuilt with genuine repair kits
New ignition coils, points and condensers
New wiring harness
Changed from positive earth to negative earth, to allow Led bulb fitment
Lucas connectors replaced with Japanese bullet for reliability
Some Led bulbs fitted
Voltmeter fitted in place of ammeter ( easily reversed, ring terminals for ammeter are still inside headlamp)
Led warning lamps fitted
‘engine saver’ 10 psi oil pressure switch fitted
Gearbox was rebuilt in 2023 using new genuine parts to cure dropping out of third gear, (selector Cam plate, plunger and spring)
Also Kick start pawl, stop plate, various bearings and bushes replaced.
New PWK 28mm power jet carb fitted along with new T100C/ adventurer single carb manifold”
Some nice touches, including the later twin leading shoe brake, and alloy rims with stainless spokes.
All in all, a well sorted Daytona. Phil would be the first to admit that he’s not a “polisher”, so there is some scope for cosmetic improvement. . I’ve reflected this in the price, which is set way below the cheapest examples on the market. Includes some spares, and the overhauled twin concentric carbs and manifold. I’ll be adding many more pics, and if you’d like a start up video, just shout.
