The Appeal
The immediate post-war GMC pickup almost immediately became a popular target for modification and customisation. Rugged hardware, iconic lines - it was a match made in heaven. This 1946 example has been reimagined as a truly one-of-a-kind rat rod.
At its heart sits a Chevrolet 350ci small block crate engine rated at 330 bhp, fed by a 4-barrel Holley carburettor and topped with a chrome Edelbrock air intake. Power is delivered through a heavy-duty TH400 automatic transmission. So Cal suspension all round and front disc brakes bring the driving experience into the modern era, while the subtly chopped roofline and rat-rod style interior give it unmistakable character.
The build features a dual-finish approach, with the upper body clear-coated in gloss and the chassis and lower body finished in matte, lending it an industrial aesthetic that you simply won't see anywhere else - truly unique.
Having been in the current owner's hands for approximately eight years and garage-stored throughout, this pickup has been well looked after. It has recently been serviced with all seals and fluids replaced, including engine oil, gearbox oil, and differential oil. The vendor states it is in very good working order, starting for the first time and running as it should.
