The Appeal
It was arguably with the 100-6 that Austin Healey's iconic sports line really came into its own. The new 6-cylinder engine had a bit of a rocky start upon introduction - it was, after all, a much heavier plant - but by 1957, was comfortably providing more power, higher speeds and altogether better performance than its much-loved predecessor. Austin clearly had confidence in their new sports range, and through the 100-6 that laid down a blueprint for a fine future.
First delivered to an American pilot stationed in Germany in December 1958, this handsome car was subsequently exported to the USA before being acquired by the current Dutch owner in 1997. It's a particularly fine example, with the only modifications being the installation of rear disc brakes and a removable rollover bar.
While the car is a fabulous looker without bumpers, they are included in the sale and should be easy to refit if the lucky buyer wishes. The rollover bar is also easy to remove, so it'll be particularly easy to return the vehicle to heritage condition before you begin enjoying it on the open road. image.png1.87 MB
