The appeal
The 356 C represents the final and most refined iteration of Porsche’s iconic first production model. Featuring four-wheel disc brakes and a host of subtle improvements over its predecessors, the C-series is widely regarded as the most accomplished in the 356 range, a car that embodies everything Porsche learnt over more than a decade of continuous development.
This 1964 example was imported from Texas and restored in 2016 by Bretagne Roadster, a respected specialist based in Saint-Malo. It now features a slate-grey exterior with a red interior, having been repainted and reupholstered from its original white-on-black scheme during the restoration. Most importantly, the matching serial numbers for the body, engine and gearbox have been verified. Since the restoration, the car has been in the sole ownership of a French owner for nearly a decade, stored in a private, locked garage and serviced annually by Garage Armenaud in Nantes.
The seller rates the bodywork, paintwork, interior and mechanical condition as good as new, and describes the car as easy to drive. Fitted with 15-inch wheels featuring chrome hubcaps and colour-matched Porsche badges, it presents itself as a well-maintained and roadworthy example of one of the most desirable air-cooled Porsches.
