The Appeal
The Big Healey just got better over time, with more power and more luxury, but the same sculptural shape that has practically become the definition of a 60s classic. The final BJ8 cars from 1964 got a higher lift cam that raised power to 150bhp, plus better brakes and a raised rear end to improve ride quality and clearance.
This 1966 car spent its life in the USA before returning to the UK 2015, when it was acquired by the current keeper. It largely retains the same colour scheme as it had when it left the factory, including a blue roof and interior. The interior mixes the original Healey Blue with Old English White.
Since buying the car, the vendor has invested a considerable sum in its improvement. Work has included body repairs, an engine rebuild, a new clutch, a brake overhaul, fitting a stainless exhaust, and refurbishing the painted wire wheels. The front shock absorbers are also new. In 2025, it was converted to right-hand drive using all new parts. Throughout the improvements, the parts have been provided by the well-regarded specialist AH Spares.
This is a very tidy BJ8 in a desirable colour scheme which benefits from lots of recent work.
