The Appeal

Morris's post-war Minor sedan and convertible were so popular that a station wagon became an inevitable expansion of the range. What few people predicted in the early 1950s was that the Traveller would debut with a wooden frame, courtesy of an ash exoskeleton extending from the B-pillar to the twin rear doors. Yet the curious-looking Traveller became so popular that it remained in production even after the sedan had been discontinued.

This 1967 Traveller has received a comprehensive internal and external restoration program, carried out over the last year by the previous keeper. The list of upgrades and refurbishments would take more space than this listing can offer, but highlights include brand new ash woodwork with new seals, runners and screws plus a full body respray across the new steel body panels and fenders. Even the polished chrome Morris hubcaps appear new.

Work has also been carried out where it isn't immediately obvious; the underside has been repaired and sealed, with a wealth of suspension and brake parts replaced. The engine and transmission received a full inspection and service, and electronic ignition/alternator/halogen headlight upgrades are powered by a new battery. A pair of additional external chrome mirrors with longer arms are provided with the sale for the buyer to fit if they wish. The current owner suggests there may need to be further inspection of the welding, though no issues were flagged in the recent MOT test.

Inside, the restoration has been equally comprehensive. There's a BANJO original steering wheel, reclining front and rear seat belts, refurbished seat coverings and new emerald carpets below a replacement oatmeal headliner. The central speedometer has been augmented with a trio of auxiliary gauges, but original details like the heater pull switch and metal toggle switches have been retained.
