The Appeal

The Benelli Sport Special 250 occupies a special place in Italian motorcycling history. Born from MotoBi's dominance of junior racing championships throughout the 1950s and 1960s, the Sport Special was the final machine to carry Piero Prampolini's celebrated egg-shaped single-cylinder engine, and the only one to pair it with a five-speed gearbox. Of the roughly 20,000 Sport Specials produced between 1968 and 1973, just 30% were the more powerful 250cc version offered here, finished in the model-specific grey and bright yellow livery.

This example has been restored by the Cirri brothers and presents in its correct grey-yellow colourway. The vendor states that the sound of the engine through all five gears is evocative of the model's racing heritage, and that the bike performs convincingly on the road. With its purposeful stance and period-correct detailing, this Sport Special 250 presents well throughout.
