Recently received £6,000 worth of maintenance work
The Appeal
Originating from an era when Mercedes-Benz engineering and build quality were unassailable, the W108 was the successor to the famous "Heckflosse". Mercedes' new luxury saloon was similar in design to its predecessor, albeit minus the distinctive tail fins, which were deemed rather too old-fashioned looking by the standards of the late 1960s.
This 1969 example has everything going for it as a right-hand drive South African market car that's dodged Britain's salty, potholed roads.
The vendor tells us:
"I bought this car from someone I know back in Cape Town; it was part of his collection. He has several cars and takes great care of them. Use over several years has been minimal, mostly driving up and down the driveway to keep it ticking over. He did a lot of the maintenance himself; he is very competent. I just spent £6k over the past 3 months here in the UK. I changed the fuel pump and most of the rubber hoses, as they looked slightly perished. The MOT has just been done as well, so it's good to go."image.png3.62 MB
