The Appeal
Land Rovers are, in effect, giant Meccano sets. Indeed, so little changed during production of its leaf-sprung Series models that many parts are interchangeable, and many Land Rovers get rebuilt into vehicles quite different to how they left the factory.
As the photographs attest, this 1970 Series IIA 109" has undergone quite the transformation. Starting with the sturdy basis of a galvanised chassis, the car has been re-bodied with panels from the rare and desirable Series III HCPU - a later high-capacity pickup variant of the long-wheelbase Series III built with roughly 25% more load capacity compared to the standard pickup bed.
Such is the appeal of classic Land Rovers that many have been restored so extensively that they need to be trailered between shows. This smart 1970 109in pickup neatly straddles the line between show appeal and actual usability and is all the better for it.

Finished in generally well-kept Marine Blue, it is a nicely presented example that carries a light patina of use. For enthusiasts who want a tidy, eye-catching Series that can still do the job it was built for, this is it.
