- Recent new master brake cylinder and carburettors service
- Voluntary MOT valid until July 2027
The Appeal
Few cars embody ‘what might have been’ about the British motor industry quite like the P6. Innovative engineering, sophisticated independent De Dion rear suspension and decent, powerful engines all alarmed Rover’s overseas rivals when new and gave its clever mid-size saloon few serious peers.
These are cars that evoke an era of P6-driving solicitors and accountants, arms resting on doors, Woodbines and cigars on the go. So it is entirely appropriate that this very well-kept 1970 P6 is finished in Tobacco Leaf Brown. It is the sporting 2000TC with twin carburettors pushing power to 125bhp. The black leather cabin, with its lovely Rover detailing, is as well kept as the exterior. There are a few points to note in photos, but for a 56-year-old car it holds up extremely well.
The vendor tells us that he acquired the car in July 2015. Since purchase, maintenance has included a new brake master cylinder and the carburettors have been serviced. The spark plugs have been replaced, and there is a new HT lead. It is a mark of his approach that the car comes with the transparency of a current voluntary MOT, which is valid to July 2027.
This P6 2000TC presents as a well-maintained, honest example ready to be enjoyed.
The vendor says:
“It is a very pleasant car to drive, light to steer and responsive. A good looking comfortable classic despite being 56 years old!”
