- Extensive service records
- Low mileage of 69,000
- A very well presented car throughout
The Appeal
Here we have a fabulous example of an R107, which looks splendid in its metallic grey blue paintwork with complementary dark blue interior. The cabin looks almost unused, with barely any signs of wear on the seats or the dashboard, making this car a very pleasant place to be.
The accompanying history file includes extensive service records, invoices and MOTs from the car’s early history, as well as hand written correspondence between previous owners, which is fascinating to read.
It is said to run very well, and has recently been serviced. We’re sure it will look equally good around town or on longer road trips, with that powerful V8 providing the ideal soundtrack to any drive.

The History and Paperwork
- First registered 20th August 1971
- Extensive service history which supports the low mileage reading of just 69.950 miles
- Many invoices for parts and servicing
- Handwritten correspondence between previous owners
- Only covered circa 1000 miles in the last five years and done only 16,000 miles in the preceding twenty years
- Been garaged throughout its life
- Road Tax and MOT exempt
- Historic MOT certificates
- Historic tax discs
- Original delivery check sheet
- Owner’s manual
- Maintenance booklet

The Interior
- Blue MB Tex interior in excellent condition
- Supremely clean and tidy throughout
- very few signs of wear on the seats and trims
- Well preserved dashboard
The interior of this 350 SL shows just how well the car has been kept over the years. There is hardly a mark or blemish to be seen, and there are almost no signs of wear we could see.
The blue MB Tex seat covers are very well preserved, with only the slightest signs of use visible on the driver’s seat. Matching dark blue carpets complement the seats and are also very smart.
The dashboard is very nicely laid out, with large, clear instruments and ergonomic hand controls. There doesn’t appear to be any evidence of UV damage to the top of the dash, and the steering wheel is in similarly good condition.
With the hardtop fitted, the headlining is clean and secure and it provides good weather protection. To the rear, the boot is spacious and remarkably unmarked. The carpet is tidy and a full size spare wheel is stowed beneath the floor, along with the original jack.

The Exterior
- Metallic Grey Blue (GrauBlau) paintwork in very good condition
- Bulkhead reported to be in good condition
- Colour-matched hubcaps
- Blue soft top in good condition
- Hardtop in fine fettle
- Brightwork presents very well
- 'GB' Emblem has now been removed
With its timeless metallic paintwork, this Mercedes looks very smart. It has evidently been carefully preserved and remains eminently presentable.
The chrome trim looks smartly presented, with little sign of pitting or damage, and the plastic and rubbers are similarly well preserved.
This car runs on steel wheels, which feature colour-matched chrome hubcaps. These appear to be largely free from scratches and damage. Underneath, there is a little surface corrosion, as we would expect to see on a car of this age.
A removable hardtop comes with the car and allows for a choice of open-air or enclosed driving, and the soft top is also present though was unable to be photographed due to fading light.

The Mechanics
- 3.5-litre V8 engine with fuel injection
- Well stamped service record
- Recent oil and filter change
- Recent bills for over £9000 of extensive refurbishment of engine parts, radiator, expansion tank, new leads, new fuel injectors, decarbonised, new fuel pump
With its powerful 3.5-litre V8 engine producing just shy of 200 hp, this SL is certainly a capable machine. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via an automatic gearbox.
The accompanying service booklet shows a good number of stamps from new until 2001. And there are invoices for parts and servicing as well. The vendor informs us that the engine oil and filter have recently been changed as part of a full service.
There are no reported issues with the car. It is said to start easily and drive as it should, with the stainless steel exhaust producing a nice sound.

Summary
A very tidy example with a fantastic interior and great history.
