The Appeal
The Moggy Traveller was so good and so dependable that many shed a tear when production finally ended after 17 years. Virtually hand-built by Morris in Coventry, the car’s distinctive and structural rear end makes these cars one of the most characterful of the era.
This car was first registered in April 1971, the same month production ended, and is one of the last built. Finished in understated Cream, it has led a lightly used but interesting life. Since 1999 it has been in the hands of the enthusiast current keeper, who has treated it to a rolling restoration. He is just the fourth keeper in this car’s 54 years. That work has included renovating the all-important wood, replacing the doors and wings and, within the last three years, fitting new floors and carpets. In 2024 the brakes were overhauled.
It is said to run really well and has always been reliable. There is scope to take this car to the next level. But with lots of investment in the structure and that complicated wooden rear looking in good order, this is a practical and stylish conveyance for your trips out with family and friends.
The vendor says:
“Low mileage and a very reliable car, fun to drive and gets a great reaction. Sorry to see it go. I have spent a lot of money restoring the car section by section. It has new floor, back doors, wings and wood. More to do, but runs brilliantly.”
