The Appeal
The Rover P6 was a landmark British saloon, arguably equal in its innovation to France's Citroën DS. A bold claim? Perhaps. But, with its de Dion Tube rear suspension, four-wheel disc brakes, and monocoque construction with bolt-on panels, the P6 was a mightily ambitious car. Rover even envisioned a gas turbine engine during the early stages of development! Rather more sensibly, they settled on their Buick-derived alloy block V8 for range-topping models.
This 1971 Rover P6 3500 Automatic has been upgraded with a rebuilt 3.9-litre engine by well-respected specialists RPi Engineering.
The vendor tells us:
"The car is very nice to drive and has never broken down in my eleven-year ownership. It is used very little. I bought it as it is such a good-looking example."
