The Appeal
Classic Minis tend to fall into two categories: the factory standard show stars and the bespoke, often extreme, evolutions. Few are like this car, a clever and highly considered restomod.
The car was developed and restored in 2015 by the previous keeper for his wife. He was a motor engineer who worked on cars for Goodwood. While some of that work is obvious, such as the tasteful wider stance, Supalite alloys and big electric folding ‘Webasto’ roof, much of what makes this car so great is hidden.
Beneath the bonnet is a switch from 1L power to the 1,275cc motor. It is connected to a stainless steel exhaust with twin exit pipes. Then there is the electric power steering system, which can cleverly be switched on or off, and the upgrade to Moulton Smootha-Ride suspension. Anyone familiar with this improvement will know how good it is. Inside, there is a retrimmed black leather cabin with subtle upgrades to accommodate a rev counter and the power steering switches. Neat little details include a rear wash wipe, large switchable reversing light and electric windows.
The car has only covered around 5,000 miles since completion and presents exceptionally well. The dark Teal Blue paintwork with black arches and roof neatly accents the classic chrome bumpers and over-riders.
The car is said to run and drive very well. It comes with a useful voluntary MOT that gives buyers useful transparency and added reassurance. It runs to June 2026 with no advisories. There isn’t another one like it so don’t miss this Mini gem.
The vendor says:
“Overall, I have loved owning Fae, and used her as my daily driver to work and back almost exclusively throughout the spring, summer months as long as no rain was forecast.
The ride and the seat combination do make her the most comfortable and compliant classic mini I’ve ever driven. This is our 6th!”
