The Appeal
Few cars embody classic motoring quite like a good MGB. These cars are rugged, durable, stylish and extremely easy to own thanks to an unrivalled specialist, club and parts network.
This rather lovely 1973 B has benefitted from that support, and it shows. What you see in the photos is the result of a late-90s restoration that cost £10,000 in parts alone and included a certified Heritage Shell. The car was subsequently repainted and the interior refreshed including new leather seat covers and carpets. A smart set of chrome wires, including spare, were fitted a few years later.
Thanks to the care of its subsequent keepers, who have used it sparingly but serviced it regularly, it presents in very good order today. We’re told that it has been regularly Waxoyled, including the engine bay, which will have helped protect the structure. It comes to market with a recent full service by specialists Road & Track and new brake pads and shoes. It benefits from some useful upgrades including, waterless coolant, an electric fan, oil cooler and stainless steel exhaust.
A large history file documents the restoration, including photo book and CD and detailed spreadsheet.
The vendor says:
“The car is a pleasure to drive and is subtle and relaxed with a lovely classic MG exhaust note , the comfortable interior is easy to travel in and the car glides along at current traffic speeds no problem. The cars doors close with a quality sound and the classic instruments easy to read day or night. Whilst this was an older heritage shell conversion it looks wonderful , rust and corrosion free in every respect with great panel gaps and a level stance. A reliable, fun classic.”
