The Appeal
In the 1970s several bike makers were experimenting with rotary power, but Suzuki was the only Japanese manufacturer to go into production with the RE5. Today these are highly sought-after bikes, with the original M model, of which just 6,000 were built in 1975 only, being the most desirable because it retains the distinctive Giugiaro ‘tin can’ features such as the dial roll and tail light design.
This beautifully preserved orange metallic RE5 M Model is a proper collect-quality example. It is factory standard and retains those clever design features that make this model so notable. Across the fittings and chromework it is in fine condition.
The bike was first registered in 1975 and arrived in the UK in 2012. It has had two keepers since, the current one since 2018. MOT records show it has been little used in that time. Naturally, it is now registered as a Historic Vehicle so MOT and tax exempt.
The RE5 M Model is one of the 1970s most interesting bikes, from a technological and design perspective. This excellent example is a rare chance to add one to your collection.
