The Appeal
The XJ Coupe was the last Jaguar built with Sir William Lyons’ close involvement, and it shows. With the advent of the XJ-S, there was no obvious reason for it to exist, but with its beautiful proportions and complicated yet clever pillarless side profile, let's be glad that, briefly, it did.
The XJC is one of the most Jaguar-like of classic Jaguars - handsome, unruffled and serene, it makes a very tempting buy. This 1976 4.2L coupe is quite the find. It has been in the same family from new and is an especially smart-looking example in dark blue with Biscuit leather trim. It is nicely detailed too, such as the optional GKN 15in alloys and large Webasto-style folding sunroof.
The history file dates back to the car’s first registration and includes the original sales invoice and paperwork. There are invoices for a replacement engine and gearbox in the 1990s. The MOT history shows very sparing use in the intervening years.
It’s clear from the history file and array of trophies and awards that this car has been loved. Here’s is a chance to become its second keeper in its 50 year life.
