The Appeal
MotoBi is a name that resonates with enthusiasts of Italian motorcycling heritage. Born from the Benelli family's passion for two-wheeled performance, the marque produced characterful, sporting machines throughout the mid-twentieth century. Finding one today is noteworthy in itself; finding one that has been rebuilt to this standard is something else entirely.
This 1977 250cc example has been transformed by a specialist custom builder who has reportedly addressed every aspect of the motorcycle. The engine has been rebuilt with a new crankshaft, connecting rods, piston rings, bearings, and seals, complemented by careful carburettor tuning. The braking system has been upgraded beyond factory specification with a dual front disc setup, the standard model featured only one, along with Brembo callipers and a high-performance Brembo master cylinder. The suspension has also been uprated with new shock absorbers and a modified fork.
Aesthetically, the bodywork has been rebuilt with a bespoke livery, freshly painted and lacquered components, flat handlebars, and a tail section sourced from the 650 version. New tyres have been fitted, and custom exhaust pipes specific to this model complete the build. The vendor describes this motorcycle as concours-grade and states it has been recently serviced. It is currently on display at Retromobile in Bilbao, underlining the regard in which this build is held. The vendor states that its performance sits on a completely different level compared to the stock factory model.
