Pre-bids

1979 Honda XR 80

Highlights

  • Rebuilt with an extensive list of new components
  • Engine remains as per factory specification, we are told
  • Vendor notes it was confirmed running and ridden after the rebuild was completed
  • Stored in what the seller describes as a comfortable environment since the rebuild

The Appeal

The Honda XR80 is one of the most fondly remembered youth off-road motorcycles of the late 1970s, the bike that countless children born in the 1960s dreamed of owning. With its willing 80cc single-cylinder engine and lightweight chassis, it introduced a generation to the joys of trail riding and remains a sought-after piece of two-wheeled nostalgia.
This particular example has been rebuilt with a long list of new components covering the suspension, wheels, plastics, exhaust, controls, and drivetrain, while the fuel tank has been repainted. The vendor notes the engine was confirmed running before the work commenced and has been cosmetically tidied but left to factory specification. After the rebuild, the bike was reportedly started and ridden to verify that everything was functioning correctly.
Approximately six to seven years ago, the fluids were drained, and the bike was placed on a display shelf in storage. The seller believes it would only require fresh fuel and oil to run again.
