The Appeal
The Suzuki GS1000S is one of the most celebrated Japanese superbikes of its generation. Launched in the late 1970s with a potent inline-four and sporting intent, the GS1000S quickly earned a formidable reputation on road and track, and today it remains a highly prized machine among collectors of period performance motorcycles.
This 1980 example was purchased from a specialist dealer in Germany in 2020 and has since benefited from a sympathetic light restoration. The frame and swinging arm were found to be in very good condition and required only cleaning and polishing, while the bodywork was refreshed with blue and white paintwork and a new Guilliari replica seat. Mechanically, the bike has received considerable attention across the clutch, carburettors, braking system, exhaust and suspension.
The vendor states the engine runs very well and that the bike rides as new. Stored in a heated garage, this GS1000S presents an appealing opportunity to acquire a well-sorted example of Suzuki's classic superbike.
