What it’s like
This early-production BMW 635 CSi coupe brings home just how much the E24 “shark nose”, penned by Paul Bracq before its facelift, remains a design benchmark. Finished in its smart Saphir Blue metallic shade paired with a black leather interior, this car appears to match its original specification and has clearly been looked after carefully throughout its 44 years on the road.
Power comes from the 3.4-litre inline six-cylinder, which has recently benefitted from substantial mechanical work. This includes, in particular, rebuilding the cylinder head, replacing the head gasket, new valves, new spark plugs, the fan viscous coupling and the thermostat. A full service has also been carried out.
First registered in 1982, this BMW was imported from the Netherlands around a year ago before being stored in the seller’s garage. Showing 200,528 km on the clock, it presents well for its age and allows its next owner to enjoy a mechanical setup that’s been freshly refreshed.

✓ The seller is registered as a private vendor, meaning that consumer rights arising from European consumer protection legislation do not apply. However, you remain covered by Car & Classic’s general terms and conditions.
✓ We require that non-refundable fees are paid if you’re the successful bidder at auction or if your offer is accepted. Please refer to our FAQs and general terms and conditions for the specific rates.
✓ This vehicle is “sold as seen”, on a “no guarantees, as is, where is” basis, and without warranty. The photos and descriptions are provided for guidance only, and it’s standard practice to carry out a thorough vehicle inspection before purchase for your own peace of mind.
✓ VAT is included in the buyer’s deposit. VAT may or may not be included in the final bid or submission price, as specified in the listing.
✓ We want to ensure the transaction runs smoothly for you too, which is why UK-registered cars and motorcycles listed on Car & Classic are subject to an HPI check to verify they have no basic database markers for insurance damage or theft, and that they are not subject to a financial charge, allowing you to bid with confidence.
✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as being written off following a total loss at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic, and provide category labels for write-offs (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. However, the presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle’s status, and it’s always worth carrying out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
✓ Buyers are responsible for collecting or arranging delivery of the vehicle. Importing vehicles may result in additional customs duties and import taxes. If you wish, we can recommend a third-party transport company that can help. For more details and to speak to the team, email auctions@carandclassic.com.
