The Appeal
The R107 SL is one of Mercedes-Benz's most celebrated cars ever. These utilitarian-looking roadsters were beautifully built, handsomely trimmed - effortlessly timeless yet oh-so-beautifully retro. It's little wonder they're such popular classics, having enjoyed an 18-year production run and impressive endurance.
This 1984 example in Signal Red has benefited from attentive long-term ownership, having been kept by its previous keeper - a doctor - for 13 years before the current seller acquired it in May 2026. Mechanically, the car has seen considerable investment in recent years: the fuel injection system was professionally overhauled by DWR Racing in 2020 with uprated components and modern-fuel-compatible seals, while the braking system was comprehensively renewed the same year. Structural work has been carried out underneath over the years, and the underside has been undersealed.
Accompanied by an MOT valid until June 2027, and an impressive paperwork file, this car offers a great starting point for cosmetic restoration, but is eminently drivable 'as is', too!image.png1.21 MB
