The Appeal
The R107 was a car conceived in Stuttgart but with America’s interstates firmly in mind. Hence, the big engines, culminating in the 5.6L 230bhp M117 V8 range topper that was purely reserved for USA buyers.
That big motor is a perfect accompaniment to the SL’s comfortable and relaxing demeanour. As LHD models, they are perfectly suited to continental European touring. That likely explains why so many 560SLs are returning to Europe, including this Pearl Grey example. It was first registered in the USA in 1988, owned by the vendor for a year and was registered here earlier this year.
It is a well-preserved late-model car and benefits from a major service in 2024 with recent fluids check and top up. As a later car, it benefits from the facelift improvements, including the ‘Gullideckel’ alloys, and galvanised chassis. It comes with a matching hard top and a well-kept folding black roof.
The paintwork and black leather interior are both very well preserved. you have a masterful continental cruiser.
