The Appeal
The Corsair F-27 is one of the most celebrated folding trimarans ever designed, prized for its combination of speed, practicality and cruising comfort. Ian Farrier's design has earned a devoted following among multihull sailors, and well-maintained examples are in high demand.
Shadowfax has notable provenance, having been imported and campaigned by an ex-Olympic sailor who served as the UK distributor for Corsair. She has benefited from considerable investment in recent years, including a new engine and control unit in 2024, a full standing rigging replacement in 2023, and a comprehensive Garmin electronics suite also installed in 2023.
Performance modifications include a sugar-scoop extension that increases the waterline to 29 inches, baffles on all ama crossbeams to reduce wave slapping, and contoured hull amas to decrease water resistance. She comes equipped with both cruising and racing sail wardrobes, the latter including a square-top mainsail and two spinnakers. With five berths, a fitted galley, heads, and gas cabin heating, she offers comfortable liveaboard accommodation.
