The Appeal
The only way to realistically expand on the Range Rover Classic's legendary status was to quite literally expand it with the LSE. With its longer wheelbase, self-levelling air suspension, and the larger 4.2-litre V8, it offered a level of refinement and presence that set it apart from the base car, and it's become the classic Rangie of choice for the connoisseur.
This 1993 example has been in the hands of its current owner since 1997 and began a comprehensive restoration in 2019, bringing it back to original specification. The chassis was stripped and blasted, revealing a solid foundation that required no welding whatsoever, before being primed and finished in hardwearing black bridge paint. From there, the car was rebuilt to a rolling chassis stage with new components throughout, and every re-used part was taken back to bare metal, primed, and painted.
Finished in Plymouth Blue with a silver-painted coach line and dark saddle brown leather within, it cuts a handsome figure. The accompanying paperwork - spanning a stamped early service book, two files of invoices covering both the car's working life and the restoration itself, plus tax discs and MOT certificates stretching back decades - tells the story of a vehicle that has been conscientiously cared for.Range Rover Classic - Collecting Cars-028 David Sloan.jpg2.84 MB
