The Appeal
Without the RV8, it’s highly likely there would be no modern MG. The car kick-started the marque’s return, capitalising on the arrival of the Heritage shell and renewed ‘90s interest in all things retro. It was executed well, cleverly updating the B’s styling and adding a luxurious interior and, of course, that rumbly Rover V8.
Just 258 of the 1,983 cars built were finished in optional Oxford Blue, and we’re told that this car was the last one produced. It is one of the 214 of these colour cars that were despatched new to Japan, where it remained until 2017 in the hands of a private collector. It returned to the UK and was put into dry storage by the current keeper, and was only registered here in 2025.
All of which explains the extremely low mileage of 7,641 km (4,748 miles) and the impressive condition inside and out. It is about as close to a brand-new RV8 as you can get 30 years after production. The car was extensively recommissioned recently; the full list is below. The MOT runs to December 2026 with no advisories.
With interest in 1990s classics on the rise, this stand-out example of the RV8 arrives on the market at a great time for buyers.
