The Appeal
Is it a coupé, maybe a convertible, a V8 muscle car, or perhaps a pickup? The retro-themed SSR is, of course, all of those things, thanks to its clever folding hard top, 5.3L Vortec engine, and large load bed. More than 23 years after its introduction, it’s still one of the most unusual and creative cars to come out of Detroit in recent years.
The early SSRs had that 5.3L V8, and this 2004 example—UK-registered from new—is one of the last of them. Finished in silver with black alloys, matching decals, and racing stripes, it has covered only a handful of miles over its lifetime, owned by just two keepers.
There are a few points worth noting in the photos, but there are no advisories on the current MOT, so it’s ready to get out on the road.
