The Appeal
The 156 GTA is special. Each was removed from the standard line at the old Alfasud plant in Pomigliano d’Arco and carefully hand-assembled, notably featuring Giuseppe Busso’s V6 masterpiece, now in 3.2L, 240 bhp form.
Just 348 were built in RHD with the clever 6spd Selespeed gearbox, which offers full auto or sequential shift options. According to How Many Left, there are just five GTA Selespeeds currently road licenced in the UK, although we can't verify that figure. The GTA avoided the regular 156’s 2003 facelift and this 2008 car is likely one of the very last built. It is classically finished in Alfa Red with black leather and has covered just 51,000 miles. It was fitted from new with the Q2 differential and desirable Harvey Bailey handling kit. There is also a fruity Alfaholics exhaust to dial up the aural drama.
The vendor won the car in a raffle last year. He has only needed to fit a battery, likely because since 2023 it has received so much investment. There is 2023 invoice from marque specialist NJS for £7,000 covering servicing, new brake discs, cambelt, water pump, tensioner, paintwork, radiator, shock absorbers and exhaust repairs. In 2024 at 49,033 miles the same specialist replaced the anti roll bar, repaired the Lambda sensor and serviced it. The ‘teledial’ alloys were refurbished and finished in gold in October 2025. The service book shows a run of regular servicing by well-regarded marque specialists. The cambelt was also replaced in 2011. The current MOT runs to September 2026 with no advisories.
The 156 is one of Alfa’s prettiest cars and the GTA fits into a fine lineage of the firm’s elevated sporting saloons. This well-kept, low mileage example has the sort of provenance and recent maintenance that we suspect will appeal to discerning buyers.
The vendor says:
“It's an absolutely sublime vehicle on the open road, the Selespeed is surprisingly fast and responsive and the uprated exhaust, differential and suspension makes the experience all the more immersive and enjoyable.”
