The Appeal
The HP2 Megamoto forged a new path for BMW when it was announced in 2006. Made in small numbers, the all-rounder was stripped-back to reduce weight and place the emphasis on rider engagement and enjoyment. While the classic boxer twin engine is familiar, the Megamoto passed other BMW traditions by featuring inverted Marzocchi forks and ditching ABS. The result was a stunning-looking motorcycle that weighed 178kg dry (less than 200kg on the road).
This exceptionally well-presented 2008 example was bought by the seller in 2018, and has been stored since then. It has recently been recommissioned by BMW, with a new battery fitted and all fluids replaced.
The bike retains its original high specification, including the Akrapovic exhaust, Brembo brakes and Ohlins air rear damper. It also comes with an original ‘HP2’-branded on-tank storage bag.
The blue frame and wheels are bright; like the white/grey panels and multiple carbon fibre pieces, they are free of any visible damage or marks.
The bike comes with plenty of history, including a service book that is fully stamped up to 2019 (after it had been put into storage).
Few opportunities are available to acquire such an original, low-mileage and immaculately presented Megamoto, with a well-documented history. It is sure to provide its new owner with great pleasure.
