The Appeal
The Cayman R represents the ultimate expression of the 987.2 generation: a stripped-back, driver-focused mid-engine Porsche that bridges the gap between the Cayman S and the full-blooded GT3. With approximately 55kg shed over the standard car through aluminum doors, lightweight wheels, and a minimalist interior, and fitted with a fixed sport suspension sitting 20mm lower, a mechanical limited-slip differential, and hydraulic power steering, it is widely regarded as one of the finest handling cars of its era, and a direct spiritual predecessor to the GT4.
This UK-market example is finished in Carrara White with black 'Porsche' decals and accents. It also benefits from a sports exhaust system, while practical options such as automatic climate control, Bluetooth, ParkAssist, and the CDR 30 radio have been included in the otherwise pared-back specification. The car shows 23,249 miles on the odometer and comes with a stamped service book, owner's manuals, and a Porsche Approved warranty certificate. A post-purchase inspection was carried out by Steve Bull Specialist Cars, a well-known Porsche specialist, who described it as an exceptional example with service history in order. With limited global production numbers and the distinction of being the last hydraulic-steering, naturally aspirated mid-engine Cayman, the R's reputation as a blue-chip modern Porsche is well established, and well-kept examples such as this are increasingly difficult to find.
