The Appeal
It was a long time coming, but there’s strong reasons to suggest that Chevrolet saved the best until last. The C7 was the final front-engine, rear-drive Corvette, a layout that can trace its roots to the 1953 C1, and it was, by any measure, brilliant.
Of the many flavours of C7, arguably the best real-world choice is the track-focused Grand Sport. This version mixed the 465bhp 6.2L LT1 engine from the Stingray with the wide body, chassis, suspension and brakes from the Z06. This isn’t a car for the faint-hearted.
Hence, this car’s Torch red paintwork is accented with rather menacing black trim and wheels. First registered in the UK in 2019, the car has remained with its single keeper ever since and always been serviced by the same GM-authorised specialist. The servicing shows annual attention to mid 2025 at just under 36,000 miles. The car has covered few miles since. Added transparency is provided by the MOT, which runs to December 2026 with no advisories.
As a viscerally quick and planted alternative to more common European supercars, this capable Corvette is impressive.
