Deposit Taken .... The Evo VI Lancer, last of the adapted road cars utilising the lighter 2nd gen body shell in which Mitsubishi offered a variety of trims and specs. The GSR in standard road form at one end whilst the precise RS was the lightened choice at the other. Minus unnecessary luxuries such as Active Yaw Control, Air Con, electric windows and ABS; the RS was targeted towards the Motorsport arena. The RSX held the middle ground thanks to Ralliart UK (later became Xtreme Autos) who enjoyed full order books with their preeminent limited-edition road/ race Evo VI. So what makes the RSX unique? Stiffened shell and weight saving (80 kilos) alloy bonnet and wings plus plated differentials for superior traction, titanium turbo impellers, quicker steering rack and Recaro SR seating made this Ralliart ‘special’ a more performance focussed Evo; minus the Active Yaw Control and ABS but retaining the odd luxury in air con and electric windows. The chance for UK buyers to enjoy the RS they had always lusted after in the previous decade and now from an official source.
On behalf of the current owner Country Classic Cars are thrilled to be able to offer one of only 30 RSX Evo’s built, completed by Ralliart in 1999 and first registered in 2000. Just 10 were offered in Satellite Silver and this chassis came through Mitsubushi Import Centre in Bristol late January 2000 and onto its first custodian; a British businessman with interests in Asia. During his 17 year stewardship this RSX benefitted from 19 stamps in the service book from the Ralliart/ Extreme dealership in Dudley and latterly Roger Clark Motorsport in Leicestershire. Ralliart/ Extreme also carried out a number of enhancements in Sept 2006 including the fitting of their ‘in house’ 3-point strut brace, an ECUTEK upgrade, HKS 3 exhaust with Janspeed sports cat, HKS intake, AP 6 pot front and 4 pot rear with Aeroquipe lines plus Evo 7 wheels offering increased airflow and improved brake cooling.
In 2017 this RSX went through the hands of Jon Kirkham Specialist Cars the founder of Ralliart UK who carried out a service via C1-R Ltd @ 51265 miles prior to supplying the 2nd owner. A further service followed in 2019 @ 51724 and another along with cam belt replacement in 2020 @ 52781 before it came to the current custodian in 2022. In December of that year @ 53713 Auto Torque in Aylesbury carried out a major service and full vehicle check and the car returned to them late January 2023 for a new cam cover gasket, fresh bushes to the rear and replacement Bilstein shock absorbers all round plus Eibach spring kit returning the car to a more factory set up. Four-wheel alignment and geometry with brake strip and clean; the result a clean bill of health at 53935 miles since when the car has covered a mere 614 miles.
Visually the exterior is virtually immaculate, the Satellite Silver was certainly the option to select on the new car order form and apart from one small blemish on the O/ S front bumper. A good ‘smart repair’ should solve the issue whilst the tiny edge marks to both rear OZ racing wheels are so insignificant they are barely worth a mention; Goodyear Eagle rubber all round offers many more miles of grippy motoring. Arrow straight panels with exact gaps attest to the claim this car has been kept to a high standard and belies the thought it has ever been up to its axles in Welsh mud or spent time tearing up UK race circuits. The cabin is typical Lancer … a few nods to the cars sporting prowess in the Ricaro SR seating, Momo steering wheel, Ralliart floor mats and harness points. As previously mentioned, electric windows and air conditioning came as standard and the car is fitted with a Sony radio/ CD player of the period. The History file is comprehensive, all invoices and MOT certificates are included and the Ralliart service/ warranty booklet carrying 24 stamps.
