The Appeal
Karmann’s makeover of the TR created one of the greatest two-seater sports cars of the 60s and 70s. The TR6 was the last of a certain breed of analogue, utterly engaging convertibles that had to be really driven to be properly enjoyed.
This lovely Pimento Red 1972 TR6 is a particularly fine example of these evergreen classics. We’re told that it was restored in 2017, work that has evidently held up very well judging by the photos. Alongside the paintwork the car sits on factory deep dish steels with chrome embellishers and comes with an exceptionally rare hard top in matching red. Inside there is a tan cabin with upgraded seats incorporating headrests. They are complemented by the tan soft top and matching tonneau.
We’re told that the car has been well maintained. Prior to arriving in Poland it was serviced in France in March this year. It was then serviced again in October 2025 prior to sale. It benefits from a recent new alternator, repairs to the wiring, new valve cover and gasket and new carburettor covers. The car is also fitted with electronic ignition.
The car comes to market with the added reassurance of a recently new Polish technical inspection.
The vendor says:
“As the owner of many British cars, including several TR6s, I am convinced that this is the best TR6 I have ever driven. Its mechanics are perfect and show what a great sports car it is. I recommend the TR6 adventure, especially to those who want to feel special in a relatively inexpensive car. Is it the most comfortable car in the world? Is it the best restoration in the world? Absolutely not. Does it drive in such a way that every kilometre is pure pleasure? Absolutely yes!”
