The Appeal
The Thema was Lancia’s BMW competitor, and to take on the M5, the firm brought out the big guns. Dropping Ferrari’s classic ‘Dino’ V8 beneath the bonnet delivered a 215bhp, fire-breathing four-door race car.
Close to 4,000 of these thoroughbred executive saloons left the works. The key to the 8.32’s character was the cleverly understated exterior - aside from some small badges, it looked like a Thema LX. Inside, however, was a different story. The interior was hand-trimmed in Alcantara and burr walnut veneer and is surely one of the greatest cabins of any executive car.
This 1987 8.32 is finished in popular burgundy Bordeaux Tramonto Mica metallic with the light brown factory Alcantara interior. It is pleasingly factory standard and in really good condition.
Before arriving for sale, the vendor spent €7,550 on mechanical fettling. The work included timing belts, full service, new clutch, brake pads front and rear and new shock absorbers. He has also renewed the Revisione for the buyer.
The 8.32 is one of the most interesting executive express saloons of the last 40 years. That it is also one of Lancia’s best cars makes it doubly compelling. This example has the condition and recent history to stand out.
The vendor says:
“Perfect driving machine with only two owners since new.”
