The Appeal

It's a great pity MG didn't continue its experiments with twin-cam engines. Minor teething troubles that a competent mechanic can easily remedy put a damper on the future of the B Series-based powerplant. Just think how wonderful it would have been if this engine had made it into more MGAs and into the long-lived MGB that was to follow. Developed to race and compete with Porsche and Alfa Romeo, the MG Twin Cam featured a cross-flow aluminium cylinder head. Power jumped dramatically to 108 bhp at 6,700 rpm, pushing the car to a top speed of 113 mph.

Produced in very limited numbers, just 2,111 examples left the factory, and today finding a well-kept, original example is a considerable challenge.
This 1959 MGA Convertible is offered by a vendor who describes it as correct in every way and ready to attend any show, while remaining a car you can drive and enjoy with confidence. Given how few Twin Cams survive in this reported condition, this is an opportunity that warrants serious attention from collectors the world over.
