About The Blaauwbank Collection:
This lot is part of The Blaauwbank Collection, an eclectic mix of vehicles spanning nearly a century of motoring. The collection showcases everything from practical classics to high-end collector cars, all carefully curated and stored in purpose-built, climate-controlled storage hangars in Central South Africa's arid climate.
For overseas buyers, this is an opportunity to acquire classic cars that have never been exposed to salted roads and the damp European climate.

The Appeal
The TR3A was a huge success on and off the tarmac. The factory struggled to keep up with demand, particularly in the important ‘export or die’ American market, while Paddy Hopkirk and his ilk took podiums at rallies like the Circuit of Ireland, Monte Carlo, Tulip, and Alpine.
The 3A lightly tweaked the TR3's promising format by improving the aesthetics and adding practical touches like door and boot locks. Just 1,896 of the nearly 59,000 cars built were sold in RHD to the home market, and this is one of them. Built in late 1959 and first registered in the UK in November that year, it was later exported to South Africa by its previous long-term keeper. It is now part of a large South African collection.
Finished in fetching cream white with a standout red cabin, it is a great example of these stylish 50s roadsters. That is largely due to a body-off restoration 10 years ago, since when it has been carefully stored and used sparingly.
The vendor reports that the car pulls strongly and that recent expenditure has been made to keep it in fine fettle. Fitted with the desirable optional Laycock de Normanville overdrive operating on both 3rd and top gears, this TR3A will be a treat for the many fans of these capable cars.
