The charm
The BMW 2800 CS is the elegant coupe with no centre pillar designed by Karmann that launched the famous E9 line. This grand tourer combines refined handling with the smoothness of the BMW six-cylinder. Well-kept examples with a solid history are becoming increasingly rare. This one, dating from 1970 and kept in the same family since it was bought new, is therefore of particular interest.
Bought new by the seller's grandfather from BMW Fourel in Valence, this blue 2800 CS with blue interior had only one previous registered owner before its current owner, across more than 56 years of history.
The car underwent a first restoration in 2002, including a full strip back to bare shell and an engine rebuild. A further extensive restoration was completed in 2025, covering the mechanicals, gearbox, bodywork and interior refurbishment.
The seller now describes the car as being in very good condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. According to them, it needs no further work and is ready to drive.

✓ We also check whether vehicles are recorded as written off following a total loss at the time the listing is placed on Car & Classic and we provide write-off category labels (Cat C/D/S/N) to help you. The presence or absence of a label does not guarantee the vehicle's status, and it is always worthwhile carrying out a full vehicle history check before making an offer.
