Highlights
- Body-off chassis and bulkhead repairs in 2017 with photos as shown
- Unmolested example with period features and honest patina
- Only six keepers with current one since 2021
- Stored undercover during winter months when not in use
The Appeal
We applaud the trend of restoring Land Rover classics to show-winning levels, but there is also something hugely compelling about original, unmolested, honest examples like this characterful 1970 Series IIA. Its bodywork and paintwork tell a story, yet it is solid and sorted in the areas you want to check.
The vendor is only the sixth keeper and says he bought it in 2021. Prior to that it received a body-off chassis renovation and in July 2021 the bulkhead was repaired and repainted. Elsewhere it has been pleasingly left ‘as is’, but remains eminently usable with good canvas top and a tidy trio of front seats. The rear load area features two additional benches.
We are told the 2.25L petrol engine starts easily, runs well, and is believed to have an unleaded head. For those who prefer their Landies original, honest and utterly usable, this is a proper find.
The vendor says:
“Drives like a 1970 Land Rover. All gears work, no jumping. It is an unmolested car, not hiding any of its faults, wearing its age well. Being sold as not getting used, and needs an owner with more time.”
