The Appeal
1976 is an especially important year for air-cooled 911 enthusiasts. It’s the year when the durable galvanised body arrived. Cars built that year also got the smooth dashboard without the usual vent, a change only available in 1976.
Those details alone would make this 911S worthy of attention before you consider its matching-number status and restored condition. It is a very tidy example fitted with the optional 5-speed manual gearbox. It has been repainted in correct Copper Brown metallic and features desirable details like the ‘Cookie Cutter’ ATS alloys. Inside, a fabulous tan and plaid interior features McLeod tartan, reputedly inspired by the trousers of one of Porsche’s designers. For many collectors, the early G-Series cars represent the last of the classic 911 silhouette before impact bumpers became more prominent.
This car has covered less than 11,000 km since it was comprehensively restored. A recognised German classic-car authority previously assessed that work as Grade 1 restoration quality. In June 2026, Mircea's Classics performed a comprehensive service and inspection, carefully checking and preparing the mechanical and technical components. The vendor describes the overall condition as outstanding. Historic vehicle certification is currently in progress through Retromobil Club România.
The vendor says:
For a collectable classic, the combination of Matching Numbers, a high-quality restoration, correct specification, original colour and recent specialist maintenance is particularly significant. This example retains precisely the kind of identity and provenance that gives a classic Porsche genuine appeal to knowledgeable enthusiasts and collectors.
