The Appeal
The earliest carburettor 308s are the ones collectors want because it is the purest evocation of Maranello’s definitive mid-engined car. This car’s RHD configuration and dry sump layout makes it particularly rare, the latter aiding the handling by lowering the centre of gravity. Just 200 were built with the wheel on the right.
This car, chassis #25875, was sold new in the United Kingdom in 1978, finished in Argento Auteuil Metallizzato over Rosso leather with Daytona-style seats and Nero inserts. It was exported to Sweden in late 1989 and has been in the same family's care since 1994, representing over 32 years of continuous single-family ownership. Throughout that time, servicing has been primarily entrusted to Ferrari specialist Christos at Autokinito in Uppsala, with a documented service file retained. The vendor reports that the engine and gearbox run strongly.
Repainted in its factory colour by a marque specialist in the early 1990s, the car currently wears period-correct 16" Compomotive 3-piece split rims and an Ansa exhaust system, with the 14" factory wheels included in the sale. It has recently passed Swedish state inspection. Notably, the UK registration EBC 505T remains on record with the DVLA, which should ease the path for any prospective British buyer wishing to bring the car home. It carries recently renewed Swedish technical inspection.
For those seeking a carburettor 308 GTB with genuine long-term provenance and specialist-maintained mechanicals, this is a compelling opportunity.
