The Appeal

The Trophée was a simple idea that proved hugely successful. Citroën’s agile, featherweight 1,219cc Group B rally weapon utterly dominated the sub-1300 class and could even bother much bigger machinery, notably nabbing third overall in the 1982 Algarve Rally driven by Portuguese rallying icon Francisco Romãozinho.

To secure homologation, Citroën needed to build 200, and the vendor says this is one of them. The cars were Visa Super X models that were randomly taken off the line, sent to Heuliez for prepping and then returned to Citroën for completion. The vendor indicates that this car, chassis 1425, was originally registered in the UK before arriving in Finland with the current keeper 30 years ago.

Since arriving, it has never been rallied or raced. Instead, it has been part of the Rally Museum of Finland’s Group B Exhibition, with photos provided as proof. It left the exhibition in May 2025.

The car appears to be in its original, unrestored, stripped rally specification. It is said to start, run and drive well. The vendor describes it as an honest, well-preserved historic rally car. No papers accompany the vehicle, and it has never been registered in Finland, but import duties and VAT have been paid.
