The Appeal

The C4 had plenty to talk about when it hit the market. This Corvette offered a range of thoroughly throaty V8 powerplants with a rather futuristic digital dashboard, all wrapped up in sleek, charismatic styling that had become synonymous with the lineage.

During the 80s, the legendary hot-rodder, Doug Nash, had been elected to develop a clever 4+3 manual transmission for the Corvette. It was a complex bit of kit with a relatively simple brief: a Doug-Nash 4+3 manual transmission with manual overdrive. The car boasted an electro-hydraulically controlled two-speed overdrive that was automatic, engaging when the driver let off the gas, or operable with a push-button on the shifter. It's a rare spec for the C4, and a very collectable one, imbuing the Corvette with an engaging character.

This particular car has been in enthusiast hands throughout its known history, with both the current and previous owners being members of the Corvette Owners Club. Can I get some more info about the clutch, what is the issue with it?

Hi, sure no problem. It's just started slipping a bit, I.e reving a bit for a second or so before it drops in properly and drive comes on. My mechanic says it could be a simpler fix but worst case it's a new clutch, which he's costed at £300-400 for parts plus one day's labour. We've reduced the reserve by £1500 to compensate for this
