The Appeal
Range Rover Classics are having a bit of a moment, and it's easy to see why. Combining the off-road capability of Land Rover's core models with the comfort of an executive saloon, it was a wonderful package in its era, which continues to appeal today. The Vogue SE occupied the top of the original Range Rover hierarchy, pairing the smooth 3.9-litre EFI V8 with a generous level of luxury trim. As surviving examples continue to dwindle, well-kept, low-mileage cars are becoming increasingly sought after.
First registered in the UK on 8 December 1992, this example reportedly had a single keeper for almost three decades, according to a vehicle history report obtained in September 2021. It moved to Spain around 2008, was formally registered there in July 2015, and was acquired in Málaga by the current vendor in September 2021. Its years in the Spanish climate are credited with the notable lack of corrosion in traditional Range Rover Classic weak points, including the front footwells, sills, body floor and engine bulkhead.
Following its purchase, the vehicle underwent a comprehensive restoration and mechanical recommissioning. The accompanying invoices document more than 160 hours of specialist labour, with the body repainted in its original Plymouth Blue and the chassis and underside sandblasted, primed and refinished. The suspension, steering, axles and braking system were also addressed, and the engine was recommissioned with new spark plugs and a Bosch ignition lead set.
During the work, a conscious decision was made to simplify some of the model's more complex equipment in favour of a more traditional, analogue driving experience. The air suspension, cruise control and electric leather seats were removed, while the electric sunroof, electric windows, central locking and immobiliser remain.
The vendor reports this 1992 example is in very good condition for its age, presenting well cosmetically with only minor blemishes noted. Inside, the vendor describes the cabin as being in very good order, with only light wear evident. Mechanically, the vendor states it drives nicely and handles well through corners thanks to the fitment of performance shock absorbers.
This Vogue SE has everything going for it, including an advisory-free MOT valid to July 2027.
