The Appeal
The Peugeot 405 T16 is one of the great rally homologation specials of the early 1990s, a turbocharged, four-wheel-drive performance sedan born directly from Peugeot's motorsport programme. With its 2.0-litre turbocharged iron-block engine, five-speed manual gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive, it delivered genuine performance dressed in the understated guise of a family sedan. Production numbers were limited, and survivors in good nick are becoming increasingly hard to find.
This example was imported to the UK from Denmark in 2021, where it had spent time in a small museum, a period reflected in the stamps in its service book. Since arriving in the UK, it has undergone a mechanical refurbishment spanning most of 2022 to 2024. The engine was rebuilt by marque specialist PUG1OFF, the turbo was reconditioned by Turbo Technics, and further work included a new front subframe, clutch, custom alloy radiator and cat-back exhaust, among other items detailed below. The vendor describes the car as running and driving very well.
