The 300 SE of the late 1960s has been described as “The last of the great six-cylinder, two-door Mercedes". The 300 SE represented the German automaker’s finest effort to produce the best handcrafted luxury automobile possible, using the best materials and workmanship, and was aimed directly at the world’s automotive cognoscenti.
Over six years of production, only 708 total production 300 SE convertibles emerged from Sindelfingen, and only 92 of these in RHD and the most exclusive of that series was the 1964 300 SE RHD Cabriolet.
With its muscular 3. 0 later 184 hp engine˜lifted from the 300SL “Gullwing" and self-leveeing pneumatic suspension with four wheel disc brakes, the silky-smooth four-speed automatic transmission, the best leathers, fabrics, and burled-wood veneers available all combined with a top speed of approximately 120 mph W112 300SE was the Mercedes to have in the 1960s. It was, at the time, the most expensive Mercedes-Benz one could buy, next to the venerable 600.
