This is a very interesting opportunity. Roman Garages is selling this 1970 Jaguar E-type Series 2 Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) that was stripped out in view of being restored some years ago, in Arizona USA. Some work to the frame and scuttle was carried out and these areas appears to have been shotblasted and painted to protect them. Some new panels were procured, but then the restoration lapsed. This E-type Series 2 FHC will make an excellent car, although this not not a short term project exactly. It is a total restoration project that we have been asked to sell by a customer. Although it is left hand drive, its the ideal candidate for a RHD conversion.
Although the car looks challenging at first glance, a lot of the vehicle is covered in a surface rust where the paintwork was sunbaked, and which hasnt penetrated deeply as it would in the UK. There is some rust perforation on the nearside front of the bonnet but the car looks to be basically complete. The 4. 2litre 6-cylinder engine and the 4-speed manual gearbox is out of the car, and all the major stripped components are with the vehicle. There is all glass except for the windscreen. The car is fitted with the original Jaguar steel wheels which are ultra rare now.
