When the E-type was unveiled at the Geneva Auto Show in 1961, it was an instant hit. The combination of it's beautiful bodywork, high performance, and relatively low cost it took the world by storm. It was a huge departure for Jaguar from the XK140 it was producing previously from a design standpoint. As production went on, there were many changes to the E-type, some of which are less than desirable on the later cars. The late model Series I cars received a 4. 2l inline six, but kept the styling of the previous cars, making it the car that everyone lusts after. The E-type has had a huge impact on the automotive world and is a significant piece of automotive history.
Presented here is a 1967 Jaguar E-Type in very original shape. The car has been sitting for a number of years in Arizona, a desert climate, as shown by the cars patina. The bodywork on this car is in particularly nice shape, with all of the panel gaps lining up as they should. The car still has all of it's original trim fitted to the car, minus a few minor pieces. The doors open and close beautifully and latch as intended. All of the glass is in the car and is in very presentable condition. Underneath the bonnet there are no signs of any front end collisions or any signs of significant rust.
Under the bonnet lives the original numbers matching 4. 2l Inline six. The compression ratio is 9:1, the higher option from the factory, and comes with triple SU Carburetors to feed it fuel. Behind the engine is a four speed manual transmission that shifts nicely. In order to become a driver the car would require quite a bit of service, but this is a great platform to start with for a restoration, especially considering how complete the car is.
