EXTERIOR
With factory lowered suspension (option X73) and a wider rear track (XRN), this perfectly stanced Turbo S looks incredible in Basalt Black. The paintwork reflects with a deep glossy shine to every panel and a prominent metallic flake on close inspection – our studio photographs really don’t do it justice! Overall there are very few blemishes to report, the most conspicuous being one or two light chips towards the front end. The car is arrow straight along both sides and the headlights remain crystal clear.
INTERIOR
The unmarked black upholstery still looks fresh and remains feeling supple to the touch. The bolsters present with only the lightest of wrinkling and at the top of the seats you’ll find Porsche crests embossed into the leather – a great factory option. Looking further, silver trim is laced throughout the cabin including to the gear knob, where the aluminium inlay adds just the right amount of weight to each shift. Additional contrast is added by the Guards Red seatbelts and floor mat edging. There is no wear to any of the switchgear and the rear seats appear as new.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The twin-turbocharged 3. 6 of the Turbo S produces an additional 30hp over the standard Turbo. 444hp is transferred to all four wheels via the silken six-speed manual transmission. The engine bay of the 996 leaves a lot to the imagination but all that that can be seen is certainly well presented. Mechanically the car is in excellent fettle and was most recently serviced by JZM Porsche in late December 2017.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 911 sits on 18-inch Sport Techno alloys with a dark silver finish. There is no marking or wear of any kind to report, and the coloured Porsche centre caps also present impeccably. The wheels are shod in a matching set of Continental tyres all round. Gripping those large ceramic discs are six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear; the striking yellow paint is untarnished.
HISTORY FILE
This rare 996 Turbo S is one of just 598 coupés produced, and one of only a handful produced in right-hand drive with the desirable manual gearbox. The car was first registered in March 2005 and was supplied new by Porsche Centre Sutton Coldfield. The accompanying paperwork boasts a raft of Porsche invoices along with all dealer-supplied manuals and the stamped service booklet. The car has been serviced at the following mileages: 7k, 21k, 33k, 46k, 51k, 53k, 53k. The first five stamps are all from Porsche main dealers and the last two are from marque specialist JZM. The most recent service was carried out in December 2017 at 53, 863 miles, just 200 miles ago.
