We have had a number of Morris 8’s through our hands and this is one of the best driving examples we have encountered.
Smartly finished in black the car wears a matching set of period and very stylish ‘Ace’ wheel discs which we think considerably enhance the car’s appearance. They are light in weight and are easy to fit over the standard Morris 8 wire wheels.
The car was repainted to a high standard albeit some years ago so there are the inevitable marks and blemishes from age and use. However, the paint has a very good shine to it and the car presents extremely well.
The interior has been re-trimmed at some stage in red vinyl which is in generally excellent condition as are the matching red carpets.
The fawn hood is in good order and the sidescreens are as new, probably unused.
The car was used regularly by its enthusiastic owner who thought nothing of going on long journeys in the car. This shows in that it is clearly a well maintained and sweet running example.
The engine starts readily and shows good oil pressure.
On the road the performance is very good for a small pre war car and cross country driving is a real pleasure. The hydraulic brakes are probably the best we have encountered on one of these cars, instilling confidence in today’s traffic conditions. All the gauges work correctly and the dynamo shows a healthy charge.
Overall an excellent example of these increasingly popular and characterful motor cars which offer an ideal introduction to pre war motoring being easy to drive and maintain with excellent spares back up and an enthusiastic owner’s club, The Morris Register.
The car is ‘on the button’ and ready to enjoy for the summer.
As always we are happy to take an interesting vehicle in part exchange.
